2014 Lions University Confers over 100 Degrees

lu_poseThe 2014 session of Lions University has concluded, with great success.  Over 100 Lions in District 2-X1, neighboring district 2-E2 and other guests received their Bachelors of Lions and Master of Lions degrees from Chancellor PDG Carolyn Dorman.  This represented 40 different clubs from the state of Texas.

With an improved online check in process, registrants were received quickly and efficiently, then sent for a morning breakfast and opening remarks. Classes were held between 8:00 to approximately 5:00pm with a reception afterward, followed by the degree confirmation. Lion Fred Conger, Dean of the University presented the degrees with District Governor-Elect Ken Gleason.  PID Joe Al Piccone delivered the Commencement Address.  In all, 50 Masters Degrees were conferred along with 50 Bachelors.

Winning the Club Award for the most attendees at the University was the Coppell Lions Club, with 15 attendees.  Carrollton Evening Lions Club was second with 9, following by the Dallas Filipino Lions Club and Plano Early Lions Club with 7.  The most conferred degree was the Bachelor of Lions in President Training and Bachelor of Lions in Secretary Training.

In addition, PID Beverly Stebbins delivered her Graduation Remarks along with presenting two International Presidential Certificates of Appreciation to Lions A.P. Haridas and Korky Kathman for their service to Lionism and the University. The award is the fourth highest award given by Lions Clubs International.
